Getting it right

Corrections Policy

We work hard to make sure everything on this website is accurate and up to date, but we're human, and mistakes can happen. When they do, we want to fix them openly and quickly. This page explains how to report a problem and what we'll do about it.

Found something wrong? Please tell us. You can reach us through our contact page, or email lydia@gowellservices.co.uk. It helps if you include the page address (the link in your browser's address bar) and a short note on what looks wrong.

1. Our commitment

Go Well Services publishes information about counselling, mental health and wellbeing, areas where accuracy genuinely matters. We take responsibility for what we publish and we'd always rather know about a mistake than leave it standing. Reporting an error costs you nothing and there's no wrong way to do it.

2. What counts as a correction

We'll look into anything that may be inaccurate or misleading, including:

  • a factual error (a wrong date, figure, name, or claim);
  • out-of-date information that no longer reflects current guidance;
  • a broken or wrong link, or a quote or source that's been misrepresented;
  • unclear wording that could lead a reader to the wrong conclusion.

Differences of professional opinion or matters of style aren't "errors" as such, but we're always glad to hear your feedback.

3. How to report an error

  1. Go to our contact page, or email lydia@gowellservices.co.uk.
  2. Tell us which page it's on (the web address helps most).
  3. Tell us what looks wrong, and, if you can, point us to a reliable source.

You don't need to give a reason or identify yourself beyond what's needed to reply to you.

4. What happens next

  • We'll acknowledge your message, usually within two working days.
  • We'll check it against reliable sources, and Lydia will review anything relating to counselling, mental health or wellbeing.
  • If you're right, we'll fix it, and update the "last reviewed" date on that page.
  • If we decide not to change it, we'll explain why.

5. How we make corrections

How visible a correction is depends on how significant it is:

  • Minor fixes (a typo, a broken link) are corrected quietly, and the page's "last reviewed" date is updated.
  • Material corrections, anything that changed the meaning or could have misled a reader, are noted openly on the page, with a short line explaining what was changed and when. We don't quietly rewrite the record.

We never delete a page just to make a mistake disappear, and we don't backdate or hide when a change was made.

6. Urgent or sensitive issues

If a page could cause immediate harm, for example, out-of-date safety or crisis information, flag it as urgent and we'll prioritise it. For your own safety in a crisis, please don't wait on us: in the UK call 999, or the Samaritans free on 116 123. You'll find the full list of emergency contacts on our Terms page.

7. Related policies

This policy works alongside our editorial policy, which explains how our content is written and reviewed, and our privacy policy, which covers how we handle any information you share when you contact us.
