Working togetherTerms of Service
These terms explain how Go Well Services provides counselling and how you may use this website. They sit alongside the working agreement we make together at the start of counselling, and our Privacy Policy. Please read them before booking.
1. In a crisis, this service is not for emergencies
Counselling with Go Well Services is a planned, appointment-based service. It is not an emergency or crisis service, and messages are not monitored around the clock.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger,
or you are thinking about ending your life, please get urgent help now:
• Emergency services, call 999
• Samaritans, call 116 123 free, any time, day or night
• NHS 111 (option 2 for mental health) or your GP
• Text SHOUT to 85258 for a free 24/7 text-support service
2. About the service
Go Well Services is the counselling practice of Lydia Nightingale (BA Hons, Dip, MBACP), a person-centred counsellor working in Uxbridge and online across the UK. Counselling is a supportive, talking-based relationship. It is not medical treatment, psychiatric care or a diagnostic service, and it does not replace advice or treatment from your GP or another qualified health professional.
Counselling cannot guarantee a particular outcome. Lydia will work with you ethically and to the best of her training and experience, but the work depends on many factors, and progress varies from person to person.
3. Getting started
The usual first step is a free, no-obligation 20-minute telephone session, to talk through what you're looking for and whether you and Lydia are a good fit. There's no commitment on either side.
If you decide to begin counselling, we agree a working agreement at the first session covering practical arrangements, confidentiality and how we'll work together. Where that agreement covers the same ground as these Terms, the working agreement governs the clinical relationship between you and Lydia.
4. Sessions, fees and payment
- Session length & format. Sessions are normally 50 minutes for one-to-one work and 60 minutes for couples, in person in Uxbridge, by phone, or online by video.
- Fees. £70 for an individual session and £95 for couples.
- Session packages. A five-session package is available for £325 (individual) or £450 (couples), saving £25. A package is paid for in full at the outset, and all five sessions are used within 10 weeks of payment.
- Payment. Payment is arranged with Lydia and is due for each session as agreed in your working agreement.
- Reviews. We'll review how the work is going from time to time, and you're free to end counselling whenever you choose.
5. Cancellations and missed appointments
Your session time is reserved especially for you. If you need to cancel or rearrange, please give as much notice as possible.
Cancellation policy. Sessions cancelled with at least 2 days' notice for online or telephone appointments, or 5 days' notice for in-person sessions in Uxbridge, are not charged. Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, may be charged for. We'll always try to be reasonable about genuine emergencies.
6. Online and telephone sessions
If we work online or by phone:
- Please join from a private, quiet space where you won't be overheard or interrupted, using a reliable internet or phone connection.
- Sessions are held over a secure video link; Lydia will send joining details in advance.
- If the connection fails, we'll agree how to continue or reschedule.
- Sessions are not recorded by Lydia, and you should not record them without agreement.
7. Confidentiality
What you share is treated as confidential, in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. There are limited, important exceptions, for example where there is a serious risk of harm or where the law requires disclosure. These are explained in full in our Privacy Policy, section 5, and in your working agreement.
8. Professional standards
- Lydia is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and works to its Ethical Framework, and is a member of the Black, African and Asian Therapy Network (BAATN).
- She receives regular clinical supervision, as required for ethical practice.
- The practice holds professional indemnity insurance, as required for ethical practice.
If something isn't right. If you're unhappy with any part of the service, please tell Lydia first. Most things can be resolved by talking them through. If a concern can't be resolved, you can raise it with the BACP, which has a professional conduct process.
