Counselling in Cowley

Person-centred counselling for Cowley and Cowley Peachey, just minutes from the practice in Uxbridge, or online.

Cowley sits just south of Uxbridge, where the Grand Union Canal threads past Cowley Peachey and the Packet Boat Marina. It's close enough that the practice is barely a few minutes away, so counselling here means support that's genuinely local, without the hassle of travelling far.

I'm Lydia Nightingale, a person-centred counsellor (BA Hons, Dip, MBACP). I work with individuals and couples across Cowley and the wider UB8 area, in person in nearby Uxbridge and online across the UK whenever that's the easier option.

Person-centred counselling for Cowley

Person-centred counselling rests on a simple trust: that you, not me, are the expert on your own life. Rather than diagnosing you or handing over a fixed programme, I offer a warm, confidential hour where you can think aloud, feel whatever is there, and be met with genuine acceptance. For many people in Cowley, having that space so close to home makes it easier to keep going week to week, somewhere to set things down and make sense of them in your own time, at your own pace.

What people bring to counselling

  • Anxiety, stress and low mood, feeling wound up, overwhelmed, or somehow not yourself lately.
  • Relationship and couple difficulties, as a Couple Counselling Practitioner I work with partners together as well as one-to-one.
  • Grief and bereavement, a loss that’s raw and recent, or one that has quietly resurfaced years on.
  • Work, change and feeling stuck, burnout, a difficult transition, or a decision you can’t seem to settle.

Getting to sessions from Cowley

When you’re committing to weekly sessions, an easy journey makes all the difference, and few places are closer to the practice than Cowley. It’s a short hop up the B470 / Cowley Road into central Uxbridge, usually around five minutes by car; the U3 and U5 buses serve the area, and Uxbridge Underground (Metropolitan & Piccadilly lines) is the nearest tube. If a quiet walk helps you settle first, the towpath along the Grand Union Canal by Cowley Peachey and the Packet Boat Marina is right on the doorstep, and Cowley Recreation Ground is close by. When an in-person session doesn’t fit your week, we can meet by secure video instead.

Sessions, fees and your free first call

Individual sessions last 50 minutes (£70) and couples sessions 60 minutes (£95), held weekly or fortnightly to begin with, for as long, or as short, a time as feels right for you. Nothing has to be decided on the spot: we begin with a free, no-obligation 20-minute telephone consultation, so you can ask questions and get a feel for how I work before booking your first session.

Whatever you’re facing, there’s a way in

You’re welcome to explore the areas I work with most often: relationship and couples counselling, anxiety, stress and self-esteem, grief and bereavement, and work and career wellbeing. I also offer specialist, trauma-informed support for survivors of domestic abuse. Just beyond Cowley, I also see people from neighbouring Hillingdon, West Drayton and Yiewsley.
