Looking for counselling in Ickenham? My practice sits just a short journey away in neighbouring Uxbridge, two stops on the tube or a few minutes by car, and I also offer secure online sessions wherever you are in the UK. I’m Lydia Nightingale, a person-centred counsellor (BA Hons, Dip, MBACP) with over fifteen years’ experience, working with individuals and couples from Ickenham village and the wider UB10 area.
Person-centred counselling for Ickenham
Person-centred counselling rests on a simple trust: that you, not your therapist, are the expert on your own life. My job isn’t to label you or hand you a programme to follow, but to hold a calm, confidential hour in which you can think aloud, feel whatever surfaces, and be heard without judgement. For many people in Ickenham that hour becomes a fixed point in a busy week, somewhere to set things down and untangle them at your own pace, close to home.
What people bring to counselling
- Anxiety, stress and low mood, feeling wound up, exhausted, or somehow not yourself lately.
- Relationship and couple difficulties, as a Couple Counselling Practitioner I work with partners together as well as one-to-one.
- Grief and loss, a recent bereavement, or one that quietly resurfaces years on.
- Work and life transitions, burnout, a big change, or simply feeling stuck and unsure of the next step.
Getting to sessions from Ickenham
When you’re committing to weekly sessions, being close by makes a real difference, and Ickenham is genuinely on the doorstep of the practice. Ickenham Underground (Metropolitan & Piccadilly lines) is just two stops from Uxbridge, and the U10 bus links the village straight through to the town. By car it’s usually only five to ten minutes from the village pump and pond, Swakeleys, Long Lane or the lanes around Ickenham Marsh. If an in-person session doesn’t fit your week, we can meet by secure video instead.
Sessions, fees and your free first call
Individual sessions are 50 minutes (£70) and couples sessions are 60 minutes (£95), held weekly or fortnightly to begin with, for as long or as short a time as feels right for you. Nothing has to be decided straight away: we start with a free, no-obligation 20-minute telephone consultation so you can ask questions and get a sense of how I work before booking a first session.
Whatever you’re facing, there’s a way in
You’re welcome to explore the areas I work with most often: relationship and couples counselling, anxiety, stress and self-esteem, grief and bereavement, and work and career wellbeing. I also offer specialist, trauma-informed support for survivors of domestic abuse. If you’re just beyond Ickenham, I also see people from neighbouring Ruislip and Hillingdon.
