Thinking about counselling in or around Denham? There are two simple ways to begin: in-person sessions at my practice in nearby Uxbridge, or secure online and telephone sessions you can join from home anywhere across the UB9 area. I’m Lydia Nightingale, a person-centred counsellor (BA Hons, Dip, MBACP) with over fifteen years’ experience, working with individuals and couples.
Person-centred counselling for Denham
Person-centred counselling starts from a quietly hopeful belief: that you understand your own life better than anyone, even when it feels tangled or stuck. My role isn’t to diagnose you or hand you a tidy formula, it’s to sit with you in a warm, confidential space where you can put things into words and feel genuinely listened to. Denham is one of the prettier corners of the borough’s edge, the country park, the canal, the old village street, and somewhere this green and settled, it’s easy to feel you ought to be coping. You don’t have to. A steady hour each week, in person or online, gives you somewhere dependable to bring whatever you’re carrying, however calm things look from the outside.
What people bring to counselling
- Anxiety and low mood, feeling tense, flat, or somehow not quite like yourself lately.
- Relationship and couple difficulties, as a Couple Counselling Practitioner I work with partners together as well as one-to-one.
- Grief and bereavement, a loss that still weighs heavy, or words that were never quite said.
- Work and life pressure, the strain of long hours, big decisions, or a change that has unsettled everything.
Reaching sessions from Denham
Denham is genuinely close to the practice. Despite sitting just over the Buckinghamshire border, it’s only about ten minutes along the A40 from Uxbridge, with the A412 and M40 (Junction 1) close at hand, so an in-person session before or after the working day is easy to fit in. Denham and Denham Golf Club stations on Chiltern Railways add a direct rail link too. For people across Denham village, Higher Denham and the lanes towards Denham Country Park and the Grand Union Canal, online or telephone sessions work just as well, every bit as private and personal, with no journey to plan around. Whichever you choose, the aim is the same: somewhere calm and consistent to land each week.
Sessions, fees and your free first call
Individual sessions last 50 minutes (£70) and couples sessions 60 minutes (£95), usually weekly or fortnightly to begin with, for as long, or as short, a time as feels right for you. Nothing is decided on the spot: we begin with a free, no-obligation 20-minute telephone consultation, so you can ask questions and get a feel for how I work before committing to anything.
Wherever you’re starting from, there’s a way in
You’re welcome to explore the areas I work with most often: anxiety, stress and self-esteem, relationship and couples counselling, grief and bereavement, and work and career wellbeing. I also offer specialist, trauma-informed support for survivors of domestic abuse. Close to Denham, I also see people from neighbouring Harefield, Iver and Gerrards Cross.
