Self-Esteem & Confidence Counselling in Uxbridge

A warm space to soften the harsh inner critic, understand where it came from, and slowly build a kinder, steadier relationship with yourself.

Self-Esteem Counselling Uxbridge, Confidence Counselling, Counselling for Self-Worth, in person, online or by telephone

Self-esteem counselling in Uxbridge offers a kind, judgement-free space to ease the harsh inner critic and build a gentler relationship with yourself. As a person-centred counsellor (MBACP) with over fifteen years' experience, I work with people across Uxbridge, Hillingdon and West London, and online across the UK.

When self-esteem is low, it can colour everything, second-guessing your worth, shrinking yourself to fit, or feeling like you're never quite enough however hard you try. These feelings usually have roots, and they're not the truth about who you are. Together we'll explore where that critical voice came from and, gently, help a warmer, more accepting sense of yourself grow alongside it.

When self-esteem counselling can help

A shaky sense of self-worth can colour everything quietly, how you speak to yourself, the chances you take, the way you let others treat you. You don't need to have reached a crisis to want a warmer, steadier relationship with yourself.

A harsh inner critic

A running commentary in your head that judges, compares and finds the fault in everything you do.

Never quite enough

However much you achieve, the goalposts shift, the win never lands, and it rarely feels like it counts.

Waiting to be found out

That impostor feeling: doing well on the outside while braced for the day someone realises you don't belong.

Can't say no

Putting everyone else first, agreeing to things you quietly resent, and losing sight of your own needs.

Holding back from being seen

Staying quiet in the room, not putting yourself forward, or shrinking yourself so you can't be judged.

Shame that clings

A quiet sense of being fundamentally flawed or 'not okay' that's hard to shake, however well things are going.

How person-centred self-esteem counselling works

Person-centred counselling is built on the very thing low self-esteem so often lacks: unconditional acceptance. I won't judge you or push you to change, instead I offer a warm, steady relationship in which you can be fully yourself and, over time, start to extend that same kindness inward. Being genuinely accepted by another person is often where a gentler self-image begins.

The work is led by you. We make sense of where your inner critic learned its lines, and quietly nurture a more compassionate, trusting voice in its place. Where words alone aren't enough, I gently bring in creative and reflective work, because Go Well Services is a space where counselling and creativity meet.

Frequently asked questions

Where do you offer self-esteem counselling?
In person in Uxbridge (UB8/UB10), easily reached from Hillingdon, Ickenham, Ruislip, Eastcote, Hayes, Cowley and West Drayton. Online appointments are also available across the UK via secure video or telephone, if that suits you better.
How many sessions will I need?
There's no fixed number. Building a kinder relationship with yourself often takes a little time, so some people value ongoing support, while others come for a focused stretch. Sessions are usually weekly and last 50 minutes, and we review together regularly so you stay in control.
How much does self-esteem counselling cost?
Self-esteem counselling is £70 for a 50-minute session, and you're welcome to a free, no-obligation 20-minute telephone session to start with. Five-session packages that save £25 are also available; see fees & sessions for full details.
Are you registered and insured?
Yes, I'm a registered member of the BACP and work to the BACP Ethical Framework, and I'm also a member of the BAATN. You're in safe, accountable hands.
Can we have sessions online?
Absolutely. Online self-esteem counselling by secure video works well and means we can meet from the comfort of home, anywhere in the UK, which many people find a more relaxed place to open up.
Can counselling really help me feel more confident?
Lasting confidence tends to grow from self-acceptance rather than forced positivity. Rather than papering over self-doubt, we gently get to the roots of it, so a steadier, more genuine sense of self-worth can develop in its own time.
How do I get to your self-esteem and confidence counselling room in Uxbridge?
My room is in Uxbridge (UB8), close to the town centre and Uxbridge Underground (Metropolitan & Piccadilly lines), with parking nearby. If travelling in is tricky, I am available online across the UK by secure video or telephone.
Do you see clients face to face outside Uxbridge?

No, all face-to-face self-esteem and confidence counselling takes place from my private room in Uxbridge (UB8). Clients travel to me from across Hillingdon, including Hillingdon, Ruislip, Ickenham, Cowley, Hayes and Eastcote.

If getting to Uxbridge is difficult, I also offer counselling online or by telephone anywhere in the UK.

Do you see students for self-esteem counselling in Uxbridge?
Yes, I work with adults (18+), including students from Brunel and others living in and around Uxbridge. Self-esteem counselling can be in person or online to fit term times and timetables.
“I'd spent my whole life apologising for taking up space. Lydia helped me hear how harshly I spoke to myself, and slowly I've started to believe I'm allowed to be here.”
